In recent years, the Dallas-Fort Worth real estate sector has been one of the fastest-growing in not only Texas but the entire United States. According to CNN Money, the D-FW metropolitan area was America’s fastest-growing city in 2010, having seen a 25 percent population increase between 2000 and 2009. The 2014 census reported that the Dallas-Fort Worth area is home to some 6.9 million people, a number larger than any other southern metropolitan area, which fuels one of the nation’s most active real estate sectors.
In 2015, the Dallas-Fort Worth property market enjoyed one of its best years in three decades. In May of that year, Realtor.com ranked the area as the top housing market in the country, placing it above major population centers including Denver, San Diego, and Boston. Although some market experts have expressed concerns about the impact of rising home prices in the sector, D-FW real estate appears poised to make a strong showing in 2016 as well, as it led the entire state of Texas in home sales during the first quarter of the year.
